Would I be interested in photographing senior portraits in Cancun, Mexico? Ahh, Yes Please! Two careers that I have seriously considered and have some of the best perks is photography (obviously) and being a travel agent (still considering). This is a perfect marriage of how these two work together for the ultimate benefit.
My cousin, Hadassah, is graduating with the class of 2015 and she just turned 18. My Aunt and Uncle were brainstorming idea of what to do for her. My aunt is a travel agent with the awesome perk of comped trips to experience a new resort, cruise, experience and more (FAM trips to familiarize the travel agent with the service they are trying to sell). I’m sure you can begin to imagine the vacations this family gets. So, they had decided to take advantage of this benefit and take Hadassah on a trip to a new all inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen for her 18th birthday. Lucky girl!
Lucky for me, somewhere in the conversation my uncle mentions taking her senior portraits while she is there and who better to take than her professional photographer cousin, Jeni. Yep, that’s me (those who have known me since early childhood still call me Jeni). When my uncle called to ask if I’d be interested in going to Cancun for a few days to photograph Hadassah’s portraits, I just laughed. Was this a trick question? As plans continued, it evolved into a girls weekend with my Aunt, Hadassah, my mom and me (of course I needed an assistant to go with me).
Three and a half days, three portrait sessions, hours in the sun and in the pool, great food… Can I express enough how much I love my job?
We spent a morning at the Mayan ruins. It was so hot, but a good morning.
We spent most of our time at the resort. With plenty of sunshine, we spent much time at the pool, new fine dinging every night, sunsets at the beach, kayaking and water aerobics with Napoleon.
Thank you, Aunt Beth, for a memorable Girl’s weekend in Playa Del Carmen! Congratulations Hadassah; enjoy every moment of your senior year!
