You couldn’t ask for a better May day in La Quinta, California. Jennifer, Greg and their families traveled to La Quinta from Newport, Ca to find a beautiful and cool desert with blue skies and lovely clouds.
Greg and Jennifer’s story began many years before they actually began dating. As a friend of Jennifer’s younger brother, Andrew, Greg spent a bit of time at their house. However, it wasn’t until a holiday break during college that Jennifer joined her brother and his friends at a bar. Before they knew it, Greg and Jennifer spent the entire evening lost in conversation. With Andrew’s encouragement, a date quickly followed, and then another and so forth.
I arrived at La Quinta Resort & Spa to find Jennifer and Greg in the middle of preparations. Everyone was relaxed and enjoyed the peace before the festivities. Greg was busy ironing his clothes. Jennifer was finishing hair and makeup at the La Quinta Spa. She soon returned to her room for the final touches and family heirlooms, with help from her mom and sister.
Greg nervously stood in place as I left to bring is bride over. What a vision she was! So sweet and lovely- fitting of her personality. The white baby roses in her hair complimented her bohemian dress as it flowed behind her. Their gentle embrace filled the air with butterfly kisses. They were both excited and ready to commit their lives to each other.
A visual delight of vibrant flowers, cacti, palm trees, serene fountains set the scene with a majestic mountain backdrop. A small gathering of Greg and Jennifer’s closest family waited with supportive anticipation for the couple to arrive and begin the ceremony. A priest from St. Francis of Assisi church greeted everyone and began an eloquent message describing the purpose and strength of a successful marriage. Tears fell gently amid smiles of joy. Laughter periodically broke the silence as Jennifer and Greg exchanged their vows. It was such a lovely ceremony.
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Greg Vanderburg!
After rounds of congratulatory hugs, everyone made their way back to the villa of Jennifer’s parents for toasts and champagne. Everyone took turns offering their support, recalling memories and expressing their joy. Love overwhelmed every heart present. Jennifer’s grandparents said it best with a poem and sentiments of how truly blessed they are for having an incredible family, and how delighted they are to see great friends join their family.
